Pretty Boy and Pretty Girl Harrisburg, MO
Kevin Poses with His Gobbler and Pretty Boy
I killed this bird in Harrisburg, Missouri the second weekend of the season. I set up in the bottoms of my grandparents land and knew there were mature dominant toms in the field because my brother had killed one the Monday before. We set up 20-30 minutes before day break. As soon as it was light enough to see he let out one gobble and five minutes later we saw a bird fly down and saw the beard swinging. Pretty Boy and Girl were set up 20 yards away along with two other hen decoys and he hit the ground about 40 yards further in the field than him and put his head down and came walking right at him. Legal shooting light was around 5:48 AM and I shot this bird at 5:57 AM. He was on the ground roughly 45 seconds before he was in range. 22-23 lbs beard 10 1/4 inches one spur 1 inch other 3/4 inch.
